Ever since I was a child, I loved to make people feel and look beautiful.

3 New (Random) Products I’m TOTALLY Loving!

^ This photo is supposed to be of 3 Cheeky’s reading our blog! I think they would be FABULOUS Cheeky’s with a case of ‘tech neck’!

This morning, as I’m working away at work, I noticed that my upper arm area began to feel itchy scratchy and then I thought, ‘Well hell, it’s been a while since I’ve felt that sensation before.’ And then I realized….

Ah but let me backup before we get into it! Okay, so we write and write and write… Learning new stuff every single day. When we’re not blogging, we’re researching. I cannot tell you how many hours we spend researching what the skincare realm is talking about. Not just on news channels, other blogging sites & any lifestyle media outlets that exist, but we’re combing through medical journals, reading medical books, the list goes on. We try to make it so Cheeky never misses a beat, or at least a beat worth dancing to. (Those are 2 very different things in my brain)

So as I was sitting in my work chair this morning, I realized that I haven’t really sent out an update before on what we maybe wrote about but didn’t necessarily queue you guys in on what’s happening behind the scenes. Did we go back and try it out? Did we see better results than when we first started? Are you still washing your face with rice water (I’m sad to report I’m not… the rice got wayyyy too stinky, way too quickly! Was too much work!!)? Is the lotion really cracked up to what it’s supposed to be?

Soooo…. we thought that today, we would do JUST that! YAY!

Products I’m Loving!

Coconut Water

For instance… Let’s take a look at the first product that brings us back to my damn itchy, scratchies on my arm! This theory is in testing phase, but remember when wrote the blog about What Does Drinking Coconut Water Do For Your Skin? If you didn’t get a chance to read it, we have been majorly getting down on some fresh ‘squeezed’ coconut water. When we wrote the blog, we were just in our beginning stages. And seemingly, which is hard to believe, I kept up with it! (I rarely do anything twice… It’s a curse and a blessing. I am a change junkie and am hardly ever satisfied and am determined for more… so it’s like I get bored with stuff way too easily!) But anyways, I’m WEIRDLY glad I kept chugging down that coconut water because I’m 92% (that sounds more scientific) positive that it’s helped me with Keratosis Pilaris (KP), those annoying bumps on your upper arms & thighs! The shit I’ve had since puberty hit! Thanks puberty!

As I’m sitting in the chair, tempted to itch my arm, I thought, ‘Why in the hell didn’t I notice it gone first off and why the hell is it back? What have I changed up in my routine?’ I did a tally of some stuff I’ve changed… Same body lotion, same cheese eating habits, same general diet, a little more coffee but that’s because I apparently like to be jacked all day, but man, there was just nothing I’ve done lately… Well except I was drinking coconut water for the last 3 weeks and then in true Colleen fashion, I STOPPED. I stopped drinking coconut water, and now my arm itchiness is back…. Coconut water, KP, coconut water, no more KP, coconut water that we wrote a blog about that said it helped acne, KP is kind of like acne in the sense that it’s clogged pores, back to coconut water… OMG, did I just discover the cure for my KP? After years of trying pretty much everything, I’m thinking, ‘Well all be damn’ (OMG, Andy Griffith called!)

If you clicked on the KP blog, I referenced zero products that have worked for me. And I clearly was hesitant to recommend any because of the lack of success I’ve had. So when I said, I’ve been trying for forever to get rid of it, you can tell by way of the blog.

So I’m thinking that drinking coconut water has GREATLY helped my KP! I’m sticking with it and I’ve already alerted a loyal Cheeky reader about my findings & she’s off to Costco probably as we type to get her some!!!!!! JOIN ME and let me know how it goes.

#CheekyConfidential Don’t forget that you still need to use moisturizer when it comes to KP. I don’t think coconut alone would TOTALLY do it all, so just keep up with your normal moisturizer routine similar to what I have – Routine as in every time I remember, hopefully 4 times a week, if I’m lucky. (I’m literally so effing inconsistent, at the moment, I’m using Jergens Tanning ‘Lotion’ as my moisturizer… lord, it’s actually really great though if you need some color on your bod…)

Heliocare

I’m kind of pissed about this one being one of my top favorites because I gave it very little attention in the beginning…So I would say a little over 2 years ago, my dermatologist introduced Heliocare to me. He very convincingly told me that it’s a game changer when it comes to sun protection, melasma and dark spots. He gave me a few samples and off I went. I took the samples but again, in true damn Colleen fashion, I forgot all about it and didn’t go and get more. We knew it was a good product if our derm swore by it, we wrote a blog about it caused we loved what we read & we knew in our heart of hearts it made sense, but why didn’t we get it!? The world may never know, but I remembered it 2 months ago and I’m so glad I did.

^Haha in that blog link up above for Heliocare, I totally admit how I never listen to my derm and how I should have… Hey, least I’m consistent at admitting my flaws!

In short, ‘Heliocare is a simple, one-a-day dietary supplement made with Fernblock® Polypodium leucotomos extract (PLE). This natural extract is packed with antioxidant properties that help maintain your skin’s ability to protect itself against the aging effects of free radicals.’ – Heliocare

Our bodies really do age from the inside out! This explains why we all have wrinkles & sun damage, even some of us at a young age. It’s actually a term called oxidation. The sun & other environmental factors are to blame. All sun exposure can cause our skin damage – not just on sunny days & you can even get sun damage from walking to your mailbox. And not just that, pollution, exercise (you’d be surprised! click that link!) & plenty of other gunk can prevent us from aging beautifully. A lot of it comes down to free-radicals which are just simply unstable molecules in our body. The more you have, the more damage occurs over time.

But with Heliocare, by taking it just one time a day, you can help neutralize the free radicals in your body & prevent the damage from getting worse (& even prevent free radicals from sneaking in in the first place). Relying on their Fernblock PLE Technology you can trust that it will help heal and prevent any skin concerns from appearing. PLE is tropical fern plant grown in Central and South America. Native Americans have used the plant extract for centuries!

I have noticed that my skin is really looking actually GLOWY these days AND my melasma is ABSOLUTELY, 100% staying at bay. But remember, I am doing those BBL laser treatments, so I used the laser to break up that melasma and I’m using the Heliocare to maintain my results. It’s probably a little of both, but I feel really strongly about this product. Fingers crossed! (I just bought my next 60-day supply) I’d highly recommend you try this product and let me know how it works for you. Any human can benefit from this!!

Argan Facial Oil

So this one surprised me! Well hell, I guess I’m shocked by everything in this blog post! As I’ve mentioned a couple times before, living out in the desert wrecks havoc on your skin. Not for the obvious reason you may think though. Sure, it’s considered one of the sunniest places on earth, so we’re dealing with those dangerous rays on the regular. But we’re also dealing with abnormally dry conditions. Don’t worry, I’m not complaining… (shocking I know), it’s actually just a fact of life here.

Dry air REALLY effects our skin. When the air is dry, our skin can’t soak up any outside moisture. So it’s all that much more important to moisturize our skin like it’s our job. Dry skin leads to redness, itchiness, chapping & cracked skin, eczema, acne, plus so much more. Like a shit ton more!

So since I have dry skin in general, getting the proper moisture has been key. It’s been a real challenge as of late. I at one point was using 3 heavy oils every night before I went to bed. I got tired of my hair and pillow plastered to my face while I slept, so I went on the hunt for just one facial oil that would keep me PERKY!

After lots of research and back and forths, I decided on Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil!  ‘Renowned for its youth-preserving benefits and powerful simplicity, Josie’s bestselling 100% Pure Argan Oil is nature’s anti-aging, skin-smoothing superfood for the skin.’ And I would have to agree with their description. I’ve gone from 3 oils and marginally hydrated skin to 1 oil and super dewy skin every time I use it! FTW (for the win, that’s my new phrase)
