Do you know the Aztec secret? Neither did we, till Eric, our very own Cheeky Complexion contributor introduced us. Meet Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay – the world’s most powerful facial. We don’t disagree. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay is Bentonite clay which is composted of aged volcanic ash & the name comes from the largest known deposit of Bentonite clay located in Fort Benton, Wyoming. Bentonite clay is a unique clay due to its ability to produce an electrical charge when hydrated. When it’s mixed with fluid (you’ll want to use apple cider vinegar with the ‘mother’ for your facial- we’ll get into that later), its electrical components change, giving it the ability to absorb toxins, heavy metals, impurities & even chemicals.
We used this amazing clay in a facial mask but Bentonite clay also helps with: (both topically and ingested)
- Digestive issues – acid reflux, constipation, bloating, etc.
- Adding minerals to the body
- Speedy recovery from vomiting and diarrhea (pleasant!)
- Oral health prep
- Hair & nails
Now for the good stuff… at home facials – who doesn’t love an at home facial!?!?!? We’ve got a lot to cover.
You’ll want to mix the Aztec Secret Indian Healing clay with equal parts apple cider vinegar (with the mother) or water. See side note below** Apple cider vinegar is insanely amazing & has many therapeutic properties, specifically vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C & E which are all amazing for your skin. Apple cider vinegar helps with age spots, acne, skin imbalances, wrinkles & the removal of toxins on your face. After you have thoroughly mixed the two ingredients, you’ll apply it to your whole face & leave it on for 5-10 minutes, or until it’s dried (leaving it on too long will cause excessive drying to the skin). Now just wipe it off with warm water and you’re good to go. You may experience some redness and tingling but it’s doing its thing! We recommend using this mask up to 3 times a week. If you notice any excessive irritation, discontinue use. Like any skin care product, you may experience unwanted side effects.
If you’re feeling frisky, add some activated charcoal to the mix. Activated charcoal brings out impurities from the skin.
I can honestly say that my skin was glowing the next day after use. I’m not too impressed with many products, but I truly loved it and have added it to my ever growing skin care routine.
If you’ve tried it before, let us know what you thought! Be sure to show us your mask pics on our social media.
**I’ve read that you want to mix this secret clay in a plastic container but upon further research, it’s not necessary. They say that the clay can be activated by the metal prior to applying it to your face but its been disproved. Feel free to do your own research, but it seems a little hokey to us to HAVE to use plastic.
