Ever since I was a child, I loved to make people feel and look beautiful.

Matcha Green Tea Masks

I’m a big fan of The Real Housewives of anywhere for that matter (though New York & Orange County are my favs!). It’s my guilty pleasure and while I’m afraid I’ll get a couple ‘Oh god Colleen’ remarks, it really does take you out of your own life and into this fabulous world with seemingly so much drama, tons of glitz and tons of glamour (glitz and glamour being my favorite part personally). Do I have any Real Housewives fans up in hurrr!?!?

Honestly, half the reason I watch is to get insight into how other people live, cause I could be interested in that aspect for a lifetime (it’s important to ask questions about other people’s lives), but I also try and see their skincare routines, makeup routines, skincare procedures, plus so much more. I mean, we are really up close & personal with them… even if some parts are staged 😉

I dunno about you, but I’ve slowly been following each of those gals on some sort of social media, whether it’s Facebook or Instagram and I just love their extravagant lives. Recently, I’ve been watching Bethenny Frankel’s Instagram stories/videos and besides seeing that she vacations pretty much every other week (not hating!), we’ve always been invited in to her skincare journey, which includes skin cancer scare/surgery, her TMJ issues and her use of filler along her jawline, along with products & treatments she finds to be the best. While I’m not one to get on board with celebrity trends (in fact, I try never to mention celebrities in our blog because what they tell us and what they use regarding skincare are two different things; speaking for most), I will say that one product she’s been using has perked my interest.

That is ladies & gents, a matcha green tea mask! While we’ve written about matcha tea in general, we haven’t focused so much on the mask side… we just took a moment to introduce ways in which you can consume more green tea.

‘Antioxidants on a basic level help prevent or stop cell damage caused by oxidants. Oxidants are free radicals found in the environment as well as found within our own bodies. When it comes to antioxidants found in skin care, food, liquid & even lab-made, they do their best to protect your skin from free radicals. (Gahhhh I love when we can make skincare simple!!)

With promises to calm redness and help prevent free radicals from overtaking our bods, the latest miracle skincare antioxidant is centuries old but making a comeback! Finely milled green-tea leaves, or matcha! Green tea has long been known as the powerhouse when it comes to antioxidants. However, matcha is telling traditional green tea to move aside because it’s basically a hyped-up version of green tea that provides even more benefits to our aging skin. Matcha is pulverized or ground up green tea, made from the entire leaf. It contains catechins, a type of polyphenol (micronutrient packed with antioxidants), making it into a powerful antioxidant. The catechins help trap and inactivate free radicals in the skin, thus fighting many of the signs of aging.

Green tea & matcha are best known for their anti-inflammatory abilities so if you suffer from acne or even rosacea you may wanna give this a try, in addition to those of us who are maturing – which is well, all of us.’ – Cheeky Complexion

Matcha doesn’t just stop at aging when it comes to its benefits, it also:

  • Is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg (another antioxidant badass)
  • Detoxifies the skin naturally
  • Fights acne like nobodies business
  • Calms the mind and relaxes the bod
  • Provides vitamin C, selenium, zinc and magnesium
  • Calms irritated and inflamed skin
  • Is safe enough to use for all skin types (especially oily & acne prone skin)
  • Lightens the skin naturally
  • Is a great skin exfoliator
  • Protects & treats sun damage
  • ‘Removes’ and treats blackheads
  • Reduces puffiness
