Ever since I was a child, I loved to make people feel and look beautiful.

Microtox – A Botox ‘Alternative’

An alternative to wrinkle reducing injections like Botox is something that I know will be appreciated by many Cheeky followers. I find that when I talk to people about Botox they are scared or disapproving of having the ’emotionless’ effects that can occur after having Botox treatments. Though this is not always the case,  it’s very important to find an injector that has a ton of experience with injections so that they can make you look as natural as possible, there are still some reservations. While I’m all about Botox and appreciate how it works, I do realize that folks want to be able to move their faces (duh!) and get less wrinkles in return!

Botox was originally introduced in the late 1970’s and was used to treat eye spasms by a famous Canadian ophthalmologist. Dr. Jean Carruthers realized that her patient’s frown lines were disappearing as a side-effect of the treatment. Then, fast forward to 1997 where so many patients were using it that they ran out of the product! It wasn’t until 2002 that Botox was finally given approval for cosmetic use and it is estimated that millions of people have the procedure performed each year. The reason that it’s become so popular is because it’s easy, pretty much pain free, affordable & the results show up in a few days & last several months. However, it’s not been for everyone.

Cheeky has continued to be on the hunt for wrinkle reducing ‘versions’ that more natural-driven folks can appreciate and come to love. Sure, there are lotions, procedures, etc. but those can either take a while to see the results, they’re expensive or you’re just not necessarily sure if something more invasive is right for you. It wasn’t until recently that I discovered Microtox, which from what I’m gathering is a relatively new procedure/technique, at least in the last year or so, to attract those folks who are interested in less wrinkles but don’t want the harsh effects that can be experienced through Botox (i.e. a frozen face)

What is microtox?

Microtox is small doses of Botox, vitamins, hyaluronic acid, and other nutrients delivered onto and under your skin using a special micro-channeling device. These Microtox delivery devices use needles that are thinner than a strand of your hair!

Here is a very simple video I found showing the procedure, just so you have a visual of how painless and easy it is:

What does it improve?

  • Fine lines & wrinkles on the face
  • Lines on the neck
  • Décolletage
  • Rosacea
  • Pore size
  • Skin dullness
  • Acne
  • Chin dimpling

I wouldn’t see why you couldn’t do your hands either!

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the location, the procedure can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Are results immediate?

Results are immediate for the most part, but you will see even more improvements for up to 2 weeks after the procedure.

How much does it cost?

I’m really not seeing any cost references online. When I go to the doctor in the coming weeks, I’ll ask them the specific price. They don’t typically do it over the phone since they want to see in person how much you ‘need’. If a Cheeky on here does the procedure, please let us know in the comment’s section below.

How long does it last?

From the limited sources I’m seeing, I would say anywhere from 3 to 4 months.
