Ever since I was a child, I loved to make people feel and look beautiful.

Our Favorite Lightweight Moisturizers (At the Moment!)

Because it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind?! Am I right? I think all women AND men would say yes ;-)!

My current moisturizer is going bye bye here soon – one because it’s almost out of product, but two, I’ve been on it for 2 tubs of it and I’m ready for a switcharoo.

We all know by now that I’m not a fan of the heat and it’s always flipping hot in Tucson (right now it’s 108 degrees) but I’ve gotten to the point where I’m numb to it and complaining is minimal – so that’s a positive (my parents and poobear may say otherwise, but I’m doing my damnedest).  So anyways, with heat comes sweat and I personally really love a really amazing lightweight moisturizer during the summer months.

I am guessing most of you are experiencing warmer weather, though I’ve got a lot of international guys and gals who may not be quite as hot as we are in the states, but even if you’re not experiencing excessive warmth, lightweight moisturizers can be your jam regardless when you’re experiencing the summer months. (For those guys and gals in Australia, for instance, refer to this blog come December when you’re in the heat of summer… is that right? I sounded super smart there for a second!)

No matter your skin type, moisturizing is one of the most important steps in all skincare routines. So if you’re oily, you need moisturizer, dry, you especially need moisturizer. In fact, all folks need moisturizers but different amounts depend on the skin type. Although oily skin needs the least amount of moisture, it’s still really important to hydrate and nourish your skin. So whether you’ve got dry skin, oily skin or a mix of the two, a lightweight moisturizer can be extremely beneficial to you during the summer months.

So my skin tends to be super dry because we barely have any humidity in this glorious place.. I was going to use a different word, but I’m trying………. God, it’s so hard for me to not type ‘shit hole’, whoops I did it… It’s like I have turrets (which is a serious disease and not poking fun, but you know what I mean). But anyways, the lack of humidity doesn’t help 😉 But to get the moisture I need and to battle the heat, a lightweight moisturizer is exactly what I’m looking for this time of year. And I hope you are too.

Side note: For any Tucsonans or locals reading my blog, your city is not in fact a shit hole… it’s just not for me. It bugs me when people do that in regards to where I’m from, so I’m just throwing that out there. It’s a beautiful place with tons of nice people, just doesn’t live up to what I’m searching for in life.

If any of the above pertains to you, then let’s dive in to some of our favorite lightweight moisturizers and why we love them!!

Sunday Riley Tidal

‘Reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation with Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream. Clinically-proven to deeply moisturize skin, this anti-aging face cream works to reveal a more luminous appearance. Powerful ingredients like hyaluronic acid and tamarind extract leave you with noticeably hydrated and plump skin while papaya enzymes provide skin with a smooth finish.’

La Rochey-Posay Toleraine Soothing Protective Skincare

‘La Roche-Posay Toleriane is specifically formulated to hydrate, calm, and protect very sensitive, intolerant and easily irritated skin. The light, airy texture absorbs quickly leaving your skin feeling clean without the oily residue.’

We have a Cheeky on this (who has rosacea) and she loves it!

Dermalogica Active Moist

‘This lightweight, oil-free moisturizer absorbs without a trace, creating an invisible barrier against moisture loss. Silk proteins join extracts of burdock, sage and cucumber to calm and hydrate the skin. Ideal for normal to oily skin conditions.’

Skinceuticals Daily Moisture

‘SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture works to hydrate and nourish skin while reducing the appearance of enlarged pores. Formulated with an exclusive combination of vitamin E, nutrient-rich algae extracts and a blend of botanical extracts, this daily moisturizer protects skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth without any greasy residue. Made for oily, combination and normal skin types, this moisturizer helps to balance oil production while providing the optimal amount of moisture to refine pores. ‘

Side note: It does have witch hazel which isn’t my favorite, but it can be ‘helpful’ to oily skin if that’s your jam.

Elta MD AM Therapy

‘EltaMD AM Therapy Facial Moisturizer is a sheer, non-comedogenic formula to help keep skin moisturized all day. It helps stimulate your skin cells to increase moisture absorption and retention, while willow bark non-irritatingly stimulates turnover for smoother skin. Complete with niacinamide, this skin moisturizer boosts skin color and tone for a more radiant appearance.’

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream

‘Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is formulated with the incredible marine extract padina pavonica. This nourishing ingredient can reduce wrinkle depth by up to 78% while increasing hydration by up to 45%. These actions work together to smooth the skin while promoting suppleness, smoothness and softness. In addition, firmness and elasticity are increased, and the complexion is protected against free radical damage. The skin is radiant, youthful and healthy.’

    Hi Cheeky!

Which of your recommended products would you suggest for a woman in her late 60s with combination skin, though mostly oily? Thanks!

      My dearest Cheeky!

      Thank you for your inquiry.

Here are some light moisturizer recommendations. Don’t hesitate to ask me questions of course 😉

      Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Light+
A lighter version of their original mainstay, great for summer use and specifically good for your ‘on the oilier side’ skin type

**Top choice for most effective formula: Elemis Pro-Collage Marine Cream
Elemis has become one of my most favorite brands! They offer really great products for a variety of skin types, but most focused on mature skin

      Tidal by Sunday Riley
Another favorite of mine. This is meant for both combination/oily skin but also maturing skin. It targets dryness, but also aims to plump and create a smooth finish on your skin

Top choice for a simple moisturizer: Dermalogica Active Moist
This one is best known for it’s ‘lightweight’ formula. Dermalogica is a very reputable brand with a big following. This may be the ‘simplest’ product out of the bunch. It may be great for you if you tend to perspire in the summer.

Cheeky tip: Be sure to PAT any and all skincare products to your skin, but especially with moisturizers. You’d be surprised how a little goes a long way.

      **Best choice for you

      Hugs,
      Colleen
