Ever since I was a child, I loved to make people feel and look beautiful.

Skincare In a Stick? We’re Intrigued!

This week, as we’re preparing our blog topics and what we’d like to write about (if we don’t get a Cheeky request, which I personally love, so always feel free to contact us with a question and we’ll do the research), I was thinking back on our What’ll Be Trending in 2019 blog post and wondered if any of our predictions have taken place! I mean we’re only in February, but from what we know in the skincare industry, it moves FAST.

Our very first prediction was…

Skincare will become ‘easier’

I think it’s safe to say that the makeup industry has been focusing on more ‘natural looks’ this year so we can expect skincare to follow suit. At least that’s what we’re seeing. Folks are predicting that we’ll be less about the multi-step routines and the focus will be more on cleansing, toning and moisturizing.

So as I re-read this blog post and thought about what we had written, since I had written this prediction first, I imagined at the time that this was the first thing (most important) on my mind, so I wanted to see if ‘easy skincare’ is really actually trending. When searching for easy skincare routines, I couldn’t help but see reference to ‘the best skincare sticks’. While I’ve seen a growing amount of products in stick form, specifically the one by Milk Makeup which we’ll touch upon, I was utterly surprised that articles could reference ‘their 20 favorite skincare products in a stick’. I said out loud, ‘TWENTY!?’. Where the heck have I been!? Have you Cheeky’s been noticing a growing amount of brands coming out with skincare products in stick form? If you have, go you, but if you haven’t, like us, we thought this would be a great time to introduce ’em to you and go over what we think about ’em.

What Is Stick Skincare?

So basically we’re seeing a variety of products, whether it’s sunscreen, eye cream or masks, in a formula similar to your trusty deodorant. This is to be interpreted as ‘easy to use’ & free of any mess. I mean, how easy it is to put on deodorant? Remembering to put it on is where I struggle, but we won’t go into my body odor today. And not only that but beauty editors alike, especially like that it’s TSA-friendly. And with that means it’s easy to stick (god, such a natural pun) into your gym bag or purse/murse (male purse). You can think of skincare sticks as your magic wand. 😉 Or a lightsaber if you’re not so much into the princess thing!

Skincare sticks don’t discriminate either. No longer is it your basic sunscreen. It comes in all sorts of formulas:

  • Eye creams
  • Sunscreen
  • Cleansing balms
  • Masks
  • ‘Moisture’ (we’ll get into it!)
  • Toners
  • Acne

And we’re imagining the list will continue to expand as time goes on. I mean, I really love those perfume sticks… they’re cheap enough where you don’t have to commit to the smell and if ya love it, you can set it in the console of your car and be ever so fresh upon arrival.

#CheekyConfidential A lot of reviewers commented on how difficult the application was with most products. (Not all, but I noticed that pretty frequently) The stick tended to tug at the skin or the folks found it hard to spread across the face in general. Just something to consider. You can take that into account or you can expect that with a ‘stick’ formula and focus more on the results folks saw. Each works!
