Have you been blessed with thin eye lashes or you’re starting to notice they are thinning as you mature? Thanks to plenty of amazing advancements, you can turn those thin lashes into vibrant, thick & long lashes in no time! And if you’re a-okay with your thin lashes, then we’re a-okay with it too! I always want to make sure that us Cheeky’s know that when I write about tips & tricks it’s to help people that are looking to change something… it doesn’t mean that short, thin lashes are a bad thing (duh!)! It’s all about writing about options for folks who want to make something look different! It’s not better or worse! K! Great! Wanted to get that off my chest. You Cheeky’s mean a lot to me and I never want anyone to interpret what I say to mean it’s the end all be all! But with that said… let’s get into growing some full and fun lashes!! YASSS!
So I have a secret obsession with fake eyelashes… well it’s probably not so secret anymore… but I LOVE how it looks. I don’t often wear makeup, but sometimes I’ll go bare on my skin but then throw on a set of falsies and I look awake & refreshed… vibrant lashes really change your look. I actually saw a college-aged girl the other day who did that and she looked so vibrant! I went up and told her of course! But anyways, there are certainly a couple things you can do to change the look of your eyelashes… some more permanent than others! Let’s start off easy!
#CheekyConfidential So this tip changed my life… wait a full minute after applying the glue to each lash before applying to your eyelids… let it get tacky and you won’t be dealing with any insane messes!
When it comes to false lashes, there are plenty of options! You can apply a full set to the top, a full set to the bottom or even individual ‘clumps’ of lashes if you’ve got a problem area or you’re wanting to accentuate an area a little more. I typically go to Walgreens and get the Poise multipack by KISS & then use the glue that’s right on the same shelf area called Duo. They’re $12 for 5 of them and I can use them, lose them and get mascara on them & not be upset if they don’t last! But if you’re looking for some glam and appreciate the look of more expensive falsies, then you can definitely find some goodies!
Esqido – a super popular brand trusted by Victoria Secret’s Angels @$30
MAC – a trusted brand (I adore their eye makeup and lipsticks/liners) with a great variety @$20 – they have an awesome variety of ‘lash looks’
Velour Lashes – another cult brand that has a wide variety of looks @30 – they too have an awesome variety of ‘lash looks’
Couple false lashes tips –
- Don’t get mascara on them… apply your mascara before (they’ll last longer)
- If they’re too long, just trim them or else you’ll get that pokey feeling in the tear duct all night
- Store them in a place where they can’t collect dust or other little danders in the air
- Don’t PEEL them off your lids or you’ll most likely take real eyelash hairs with ya! Take a Qtip and apply a makeup remover to the lash line & gently remove
Though I totally appreciate this look & ever popular way to enhance the look of lashes, I cannot get over the price!!!!!! I realize that it takes an amazing professional and a lot of concentration but spending $200 for a new set just boggles my mind (and it can be around $165 every 3 weeks for just a touchup). Though price may vary depending on how many you’re getting & the length, it’s still astronomical to me… but then again, some of you all may be wondering why I spend such and such amount on something you think is nuts, so maybe to each their own. 😉
Here are some popular facts to know about eyelash extensions if you’re ready for a more permanent solution!
- The longer the extensions, the more lashes you’ll probably need
- You have to lay low for at least 12 hours after application
- It should take about 2 hours per application & that typically needs to be performed every 3 weeks for a fill in
- Fills in can cost anywhere from $50-$165
- To help maintain the look of your lashes, it’s important to gently brush your lashes with a clean, disposable mascara wand when you wake up, after you shower, and at the end of the day
- Make sure not to ‘pick’ at your eyelashes
- Reactions can occur so make sure your technician washes their hands between clients, wears a mask, uses sanitary pillow covers, sterilizes their tweezers, and uses disposable eyelash brushes during your visit
Latisse (most gender neutral option)
This will most likely be my next endeavor because the gal at my Botox place had used it after her pregnancy and her eyelashes were insanely amazing! I’ve always wanted to try it but was disappointed that you had to keep applying the solution to keep experiencing the lush, full lashes! I still can’t imagine how your lashes will all the sudden shrink and thin once you stop using it but I guess that’s what happens 😉
Latisse is an FDA approved treatment for thinning lashes! You apply the serum each night and start to see growth in about 8 weeks, with full growth at 16 weeks – and the results are INSANE! It costs about $120 for a 2 month supply but I read a couple tips to help you turn that into a 4 month supply – so fairly affordable! Make sure to get it from your skincare provider or trusted doctor because it is considered a prescription.
There is one major side effect to be weary of and that is lid pigmentation so it’s important to do your absolute best to apply it to the lash line and no where else.

Another amazing option that doesn’t require constant maintenance and is super affordable! I also read that it helps with eyebrow growth, but please do your research before applying to the sparse areas in your brows.
For $64.95 you get a 3 month supply! You are to apply once or twice daily to the lash line, though most users suggested applying twice a day! ‘GrandeLASH-MD is created with a proprietary blend of vitamins, peptides, and amino acids plus conditioning ingredients. Our award winning eyelash enhancing serum promotes a more youthful, healthy and dramatic lash look. GrandeLASH-MD is safe, effective, and results can be seen in as little as 4 weeks (with full results in 3 months).’
